Rockford City Market is back starting at 3 p.m. tomorrow with all of your favorite vendors, plus lots more! But the market isn't the only thing happening in downtown Rockford. Here are some other ways you can experience downtown at its best:
Discover De-Light-Ful Science
It's Family Friday at the Discovery Center Museum. Head down before the market each Friday from 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. for a day of fun. This week experience De-Light-Ful Science. Experiment with black light, capture a rainbow, construct a color viewer and more! Bounce a laser beam and make a light-catching sculpture as you explore the light spectrum during this dazzlingly fun event.
Dine at Original Restaurants
Stop by one of Rockford's many downtown restaurants for an original dining experience. Enjoy unique Asian cuisine, dine on fresh seafood, or grab a pizza. You'll find the perfect dinner to fit your tastebuds and your wallet.
Catch Friday Night Flix
Take the family to Davis Park for Friday Night Flix, spread out your blanket and watch Ghostbusters. Free popcorn, inexpensive food and beer, wine and soda are available starting at 7 p.m. The movie begins at dusk (roughly 9 p.m.), with pre-show entertainment starting around 8. Check out their Facebook page for future shows.
Explore Nightlife
Stick around after the movie and experience nightlife in downtown Rockford. You will find atmospheres to fit every mood, from upscale wines and martinis to pub-style microbrews and craft beers to neighborhood bars and night clubs. Live it up in Rockford's River District.
Ride the Trolley
Rockford Mass Transit District will provide free trolley service between the Museum Campus, Rockford City Market and Davis Park. The trolley will run from 3:30 - 11:30 p.m., with additional stops at block 5 (State and Second Streets), the Coronado and State and Main Streets. Click here for a map of the trolley route.
Where will you be on Friday night?
